Gerhard Geiger designed his first drive for Venetian blinds in 1952 and thus laid the milestone for the company as we know it today.
Over the years, state-of-the-art manufacturing methods and production processes have made us one of the leading manufacturers of mechanical drive systems for blinds, awnings and roller shutters. For some time now, we have also been successfully active in the field of electric drives for blinds, awnings and roller shutters.
More than 50 million drive systems have now been delivered to the company’s global customer base. GEIGER Antriebstechnik is characterized by a high level of vertical integration. From market requirements to production, mechanical and electrical sun protection drives are developed, tested and assembled on Geiger automatic assembly machines with specially programmed control systems. In-house plastics production is therefore a matter of course. High precision, increasing know-how, everything suitable for high-quality products.
By constantly improving existing products and developing market-driven innovations, we want to further strengthen our position on the market and continue to be a competent partner for our customers in the future. Gerhard Geiger took over the management of the mechanical workshop from his father Gustav Geiger. This change of management marked the start of the production of drives for blinds. The product range was quickly expanded to include gears for awnings and roller shutters. In addition to the drives, high-quality operating elements such as spherical plain bearings, cranks and rods were already being produced at that time.
The handover to the next generation: under the leadership of Josef Grüdl and Georg Schmidt, GEIGER Antriebstechnik transformed itself into an industrial company with highly automated production processes, modeled on the automotive supply industry.
Responsibility for the company was once again placed in young hands: Hans-Michael Dangel and Hermann Lörcher focused fully on the motorization of sun protection. From the year 2000, GEIGER Antriebstechnik successfully introduced blind motors as well as awning and roller shutter motors to the market.
The management changes. Dipl.-Ing. Roland Kraus has joined the company as Managing Director to replace Hans-Michael Dangel, who is leaving. His focus is on quality, process and cost optimization.
Dr. Bertram Melzig-Thiel joins Gerhard Geiger GmbH & Co. KG as second Managing Director and is now responsible for Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Business Development and Customer Service.
For decades, GEIGER has thus combined the advantages of continuity, consistency and solidity with the ambitious goals of future generations to align the traditional company GEIGER Antriebstechnik with changing markets.
Then as now, we produce exclusively at the Bietigheim-Bissingen site near Stuttgart. From the workshop in the founder’s house, the production area has grown to over 20,000 square meters today.
All areas of the company are closely linked in terms of space and processes. The high level of integration between the departments, from product development to production, ensures optimum interaction from the initial product idea to series production. This networking results in a constant exchange of experience and thus forms the optimum basis for economically and technically sophisticated solutions for the sun shading industry.
We see a high level of vertical integration as a basic prerequisite for the production of high-quality and durable quality drives. From machining, motor and plastics technology to assembly, all work steps take place at our plant in Bietigheim-Bissingen. This enables us to respond quickly, flexibly and with technical expertise to our customers’ requirements.
In order to keep production in Germany economical and competitive, GEIGER develops and manufactures equipment such as plastic molds, production devices, special machines and assembly systems in its own departments. Depending on the product and life cycle, semi-automatic or fully automatic production systems are used.
Our high-quality drives are not created by themselves. We attach great importance to quality right from the development stage. This begins with the selection of materials and the design of the components for load, service life and noise development. All products are subjected to tests that go far beyond normal use before being approved by our testing department and quality assurance. We prove this with our manufacturer’s declarations and testing in accordance with various standards and testing bodies such as VDE, NF, CCC and GHOST.
Even after the start of production, GEIGER products are constantly checked for quality and safety. If problems do occur, we work closely with our customers to limit and rectify the damage immediately. You can rely on GEIGER even in difficult situations.
As the main owner, the Gerhard Geiger Foundation ensures the independence of GEIGER Antriebstechnik. Customers and employees can therefore rely on the long-term orientation of our activities. The industrial basis, the interplay of high production know-how and innovative development spirit is ensured by the long-term orientation of the company.
